Driving away from the airport, one can see how amazing this runway is. From the highway, it resembles an elevated city highway perched on a forest of concrete pillars at least 50 metres high. On take-off, there is no soaring climb into the air, just a continuing gentle climb as the wheels leave the ground and the rocky coastline replaces it under the wings.

Scoot Airline launched flights in 2012 on medium and long-haul routes from Singapore, predominantly to Australia and China. Initially, Scoot’s fleet consisted of Boeing 777 aircraft obtained from Singapore Airlines which is the parent company. The airline began to transition its fleet to Boeing 787 aircraft from 2015. Its head office is at Singapore Changi Airport.
