The “Rich-cession” is here. For the first time in decades, the top 1% are losing wealth at record rates. But why is this happening now? In this video, we uncover the silent financial slaughter of the ultra-wealthy in 2025.
From the collapse of the “Buy, Borrow, Die” strategy to the $3 Trillion Commercial Real Estate apocalypse, we dissect exactly how the mighty are falling. We’ll look at why “High Earners, Not Rich Yet” (HENRYs) are drowning in debt, the insurance crisis destroying property values, and why the “Silver Splitters” divorce wave is wiping out dynastic wealth.

The Debt Trap: Why high interest rates killed the “Buy, Borrow, Die” loophole.

Real Estate Crisis: Why office towers and mansions are becoming worthless liabilities.

Lifestyle Inflation: The hidden costs of being “uninsurable” in 2025.

The Clawback: How divorce and global tax dragnets are seizing assets.

Desperation: Why white-collar fraud is skyrocketing among the elite.

If you think you have it bad, wait until you see the balance sheet of your “rich” neighbor.

Key global decision makers are set to converge for WTM London’s Ministers’ Summit this November, traditionally the world’s largest annual gathering of tourism leaders, each year.

Taking place on Tuesday 4th November, the event will once again be held in association with UN Tourism and the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), moderated by Christian Fraser, Chief Presenter at BBC News. Taking place in the new Maritime Suite, George V Room 1 (part of Excel London’s newest expansion), the summit, now in its 19th year, is expected to showcase its most impactful lineup so far, building on momentum from previous events.

Last year, the summit brought together over 50 Tourism Ministers – a 12% increase on 2023 and record figure to date. A growth which reflects an overall uptake in attendance for WTM London, with 2025 on track to become the largest in the event’s 45-year history.

This year, the summit, ‘Reimagining Tourism Investment Models: Building Next-Generation Incentives’, will explore innovative approaches to tourism investment and forward-looking incentives, aligning with the show’s overarching conference theme of ‘Reimagining Travel in a Changing World’. Building on last year’s discussion, which focused on artificial intelligence, this year’s summit will address key topics such as the integration of emerging technologies to unlock new markets, tools to align investment with national economic transformation agendas and how to diversify tourism investment for long-term resilience.

With tourism entering a decisive stage of transformation, the summit will present clear steps to take tourism investment models from traditional and service-based to strategic and forward-looking.

Elsewhere on Tuesday 4th November, WTM London’s wider conference programme will see the return of the Sustainability and Geo-economics summits, as well as the unveiling of the latest WTM Global Travel Report, with the Technology and DEAI summits to follow the next day. The final day of the event will feature the Marketing summit, ITT Future You Forum and closing keynote session, with a soon to be announced special guest.

Chris Carter-Chapman, WTM London Event Director, said: “As the world’s most influential travel show, we’re delighted to be hosting the Minister’s Summit once more, particularly after such a strong attendance last year. WTM London has an undoubted impact at policy level, leading the way in top level discussion about the key issues affecting global tourism. As the industry adapts to challenges such as conflict and climate change, and opportunities like those presented by technological advances, it’s important to come together to share best practice and consider how we can harness tourism as a force for good.”

In 1970 Louis Rukeyser started the popular Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) series Wall Street Week, produced by Maryland Public Television, a PBS member station, at its facilities in Owings Mills, Maryland. The show ran for 32 years, reaching its ratings peak in the mid-1980s. Rukeyser took pride in creating the first television show which focused on Wall Street, using a combination of erudition, plainspokenness, and panache to make the arcane workings of the stock market and the economy better known to the public. In 1987, Wall Street Week was parodied in an episode of Saturday Night Live.

By the 1990s, Wall Street Week faced increasing competition from rivals like CNBC. In 2002, network executives wanted to replace him with a younger host to help boost ratings. MPT executives offered him a five-minute segment on a newly retooled version of the show; Rukeyser declined. In his final episode, which was broadcast live, he deplored the decision of Maryland Public Television’s management and urged viewers to write their PBS stations and clamor for the new financial program he would soon create. Maryland Public Television fired him immediately after the broadcast. After Rukeyser’s departure, the series was renamed Wall Street Week with Fortune and co-hosted by the editorial director of Fortune magazine, Geoffrey Colvin, along with Karen Gibbs, a former senior business correspondent on the Fox News Channel. But without Rukeyser, the show’s ratings fell and Maryland Public Television cancelled the show in June 2005.

Back in 1998 Google founders: Larry Page and Sergey Brin have rented a garage from Susan Diane Wojcicki. She started her career in the tech world in the early 90s, and her journey eventually led her to Google, where she played a pivotal role in the company’s growth. In fact, she was the Google employee number 16 and even rented her own garage where Google began. In 2022 her net worth was estimated at $765 millions. After observing the success of YouTube, she suggested that Google should buy it; the deal was approved for $1.65 billion in 2006. She was appointed CEO of YouTube in 2014, serving until resigning in February 2023.

Susan was born in Santa Clara, California, on July 5, 1968, the daughter of Esther Wojcicki, an American journalist, and Stanley Wojcicki, a Polish physics professor at Stanford University. Her paternal grandfather, Franciszek Wójcicki, was a Polish politician who was elected MP during the 1947 Polish legislative election. Her paternal grandmother, Janina Wójcicka Hoskins, was a Polish-American librarian at the Library of Congress and was responsible for building the largest collection of Polish material in the United States.

As Google expanded, Susan moved from marketing to product management, and eventually became the CEO of YouTube. She was instrumental in shaping YouTube into the platform it is today. Throughout her journey, Susan remained a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in tech, leaving a lasting legacy.

Her story is one of perseverance, vision, and a genuine passion for technology, which made her a key figure in the tech world. Susan Wojcicki died on August 9, 2024, at the age of 56, after living with non-small-cell lung cancer for two years.

USA v China: China’s GDP convergence process towards the US has slowed, with the US around 50% larger in nominal terms; contributing more GDP growth and import demand.

Measured at market exchange rates, China’s GDP was $18.3 trillion in 2022, 73 percent of the GDP of the United States and 10 times more than the 7 percent of US GDP it registered in 1990. China’s per capita income is now roughly $13,000, approximately 17 percent of US per capita income—compared with less than 2 percent in 1990. Over the past decade and a half, China has been the main driver of the world’s economic growth, accounting for 35 percent of global nominal GDP growth, while the United States accounted for 27 percent.

China’s economic performance has relied largely on investment growth financed by an inefficient banking system. This pattern intensified after the global financial crisis that began in 2008. Increased investment accounted for about two-thirds of GDP growth during 2009–10. Because China is a labor-rich economy and has a capital-to-labor ratio much lower than that of advanced economies, more rather than less investment is probably desirable. However, much of the investment has been driven by the public (state) sector rather than the nongovernmental sector. This is not inherently a problem. Investment in private sector firms, especially smaller ones, can be much riskier than in large, state-owned enterprises. But in China, state-owned enterprises, which collectively receive a disproportionate share of bank credit, typically have not generated strong returns on those investments.

A chatbot is a software application that aims to mimic human conversation through text or voice interactions, mostly online. Modern chatbots are artificial intelligence (AI) systems that are capable of having a conversation with a user in natural language and simulating the way a human would behave as a conversational partner. Such technologies often utilize aspects of deep learning and natural language processing.

Recently this field has gained widespread attention due to the popularity of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, followed by alternatives such as MSFT Bing Chat (which uses OpenAI’s GPT-4) and Google’s Bard. Such examples reflect the recent practice of such products being built based upon broad foundational large language models that get fine-tuned so as to target specific tasks or applications (i.e. simulating human conversation, in the case of chatbots). Chatbots can also be designed or customized to further target more specific situations and particular subject-matter domains.
