Street View had its inception in 2001 with the Stanford CityBlock Project, a Google-sponsored Stanford University research project. The project ended in June 2006, and its technology was folded into Street View. The technology was launched on May 25, 2007, in the United States.

In 2017 Google announced that they were improving the quality of the street view panoramic photo by revamping its mapping vehicles with all-new high-resolution camera systems and artificial intelligence. The new Google cars have been seen in various American cities since March 2017, as well as in Japan since August. The first images taken with the new generation of cameras were available online on September 13. In October 2017, the makers of the Insta360 Pro announced the certification of the first “Street View auto ready” camera for US$3,500; it uses six lenses for a 360° view and comes with Stitcher software. In addition to purchase, the camera rig is also available to qualified entities as part of the Google loaner program, with 50 cameras available to loan.

CIMT, or Carotid Intimal Thickness, refers to the measurement of the thickness of the innermost layers of the carotid artery walls. The carotid arteries are located in the neck and supply blood to the brain. CIMT is assessed using ultrasound imaging and is commonly used as a marker of atherosclerosis, a condition characterized by the buildup of plaque in the arteries.

The innermost layer of the artery wall is called the intima, and when it thickens, it can indicate the presence of atherosclerosis. CIMT is measured by imaging the carotid arteries using high-frequency ultrasound and then analyzing the images to determine the thickness of the intima.

CIMT is a non-invasive and relatively simple procedure that provides valuable information about a person’s cardiovascular health. It can help in assessing the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases such as heart attacks and strokes. Increased CIMT is associated with a higher risk of developing these conditions.

By measuring CIMT, healthcare professionals can identify early signs of atherosclerosis and monitor disease progression over time. CIMT measurements can be used to track the effectiveness of treatments aimed at reducing the progression of atherosclerosis, such as lifestyle changes, medication, or interventions like angioplasty or stenting.

CIMT is often used as part of a comprehensive cardiovascular risk assessment alongside other risk factors such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and smoking history. It provides additional information that can help in making informed decisions about preventive measures and treatment strategies.

It’s important to note that CIMT is a diagnostic tool and not a standalone indicator of cardiovascular disease. Interpretation of CIMT results should be done in conjunction with other clinical factors and risk assessment tools. It’s typically performed by trained professionals in specialized clinics or hospitals.

Germany had several colonies in China during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known collectively as the Kiautschou Bay concession. The concession was located on the Shandong Peninsula, covering an area of 552 km2, on the east coast of China.

The German colonial presence in China began in 1897, when the German Empire leased the Kiautschou Bay concession from the Qing Dynasty government. The concession was used by Germany as a naval base and trading hub, and the Germans invested heavily in infrastructure and development projects in the area.

The German presence in Kiautschou Bay came to an end in 1914, at the outbreak of World War I. The concession was occupied by Japanese forces during the war and was later returned to China in 1922, following the Treaty of Versailles.

During their brief colonial period in China, the Germans built a number of impressive buildings and landmarks in the concession, including a railway, a power station, and a waterworks. Some of these structures still stand today and are popular tourist attractions.

Managed by Housing and Development Board in Singapore.
Tracks the overall price movement of the public residential market.
The index is based on quarterly average resale price by date of registration. The index till 3Q2014 was computed using stratification method, while that from 4Q2014 onwards is computed using the stratified hedonic regression method. 1Q2009 is adopted as the new base period with index at 100. The index from 1Q1990 to 3Q2014 are rebased to the new base period at 1Q2009. Indices from 1Q1990 to 3Q2014 are re-scaled using a factor of 100 (new index in 1Q2009) / 138.3 (original index in 1Q2009) multiplied on the original index level to derive the re-based index level for the respective quarters. Due to rounding, there could be some differences in the quarterly price change compared to the RPI series before re-scaling.

The AFC Asian Cup, an international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) was held in Australia from 9 to 31 January 2015. It was won by Australia after defeating South Korea 2–1 in extra time in the final, thereby earning the right to participate in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, which is to be hosted by Russia.

As host, Australia automatically qualified for the final tournament, while the remaining 15 finalists (with the exception of Japan and South Korea who qualified via their top three position in the previous Asian Cup) were decided through a qualification process, featuring 44 teams, from February 2013 to March 2014.
The final tournament was played in two stages: the group stage and the knockout stage. In the group stage each team played three games in a group of four, with the winners and runners-up from each group advancing to the knockout stage. In the knockout stage the eight teams competed in single-elimination matches, beginning with the quarter-finals and ending with the final match of the tournament. A third-place match was also played between the two losing teams of the semi-finals (Iraq and United Arab Emirates).
Japan were the defending champions going into the tournament, having won the previous competition in 2011. They recorded their worst finish in the Asian Cup since the 1996 edition in the United Arab Emirates, being knocked out in the quarter-finals by the United Arab Emirates in a penalty shoot-out.

Derren Brown is an English illusionist, mentalist, trickster, hypnotist, painter, writer, and sceptic. He is known for his appearances in television specials, stage productions, and British television series such as Trick of the Mind and Trick or Treat. Since the first broadcast of his show Derren Brown: Mind Control in 2000, Brown has become increasingly well known for his mind-reading act. He has written books for magicians as well as the general public.
Though Brown’s performances of mind-reading and other feats of mentalism may appear to be the result of psychic or paranormal practices, he claims no such abilities and frequently denounces those who do. He states at the beginning of his Trick of the Mind programmes that he achieves his results using a combination of “magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection, and showmanship”.
Brown relies heavily on misdirection for his tricks, helped by the audience viewing him as having deep psychological insights. He relies on a wide array of techniques to prevent audiences from deducing the techniques he has used.
In a Daily Telegraph article published in 2003 Simon Singh criticised Brown’s early TV appearances, arguing that he presented standard magic and mentalism effects—such as the classic ten-card poker deal trick—as genuine psychological manipulation. On Brown’s television and live shows he often appears to show the audience how a particular effect was created—claiming to use techniques such as subliminal suggestion, hypnosis, and body language reading. Singh’s suggestion is that these explanations are dishonest. Furthermore, Singh took exception to the programme’s website being categorised under Channel 4’s “Science” section. The mini-site was moved to “Entertainment” for later series.
In an October 2010 interview, Brown conceded that Singh may have had a point, explaining that at the start of his television career “I was overstating the case, overstating my skills. I thought there’ll only be one show, there’ll never be a repeat, so I might as well go for it.” In his book Tricks of the Mind, Brown writes,
I am often dishonest in my techniques, but always honest about my dishonesty. As I say in each show, ‘I mix magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship’. I happily admit cheating, as it’s all part of the game. I hope some of the fun for the viewer comes from not knowing what’s real and what isn’t. I am an entertainer first and foremost, and I am careful not to cross any moral line that would take me into manipulating people’s real-life decisions or belief systems.
Brown claims to never use actors or “stooges” in his work without informing the viewers. In Tricks of the Mind, Brown writes that to use such a ploy is “artistically repugnant and simply unnecessary”; furthermore, he “would not want any participant to watch the TV show when it airs and see a different or radically re-edited version of what he understood to have happened”

Tourism has become a global leisure activity. In 2014 international tourist arrivals rose by 4.7 per cent to 1.14 billion tourists globally. International tourism arrivals rose at the fastest rate in the Americas, where numbers grew by 7.0 to 181 million with Mexico posting double-digit growth of 19 per cent. The Asia-Pacific region saw the number of foreign overnight visitors rise by 5.0 per cent to 263 million. Europe remained the most visited region with 588 million arrivals with 4 per cent rise. And international tourism in the Middle East has shown signs of rebound with in most destinations. The region attracted 50 million international tourists, a 4 per cent rise over 2013.

International tourism receipts (the travel item of the balance of payments) grew to US$1.03 trillion in 2011, corresponding to an increase in real terms of 3.8% from 2010. Also in 2012, China became the largest spender in international tourism globally with US$102 billion, surpassing Germany and United States. China and emerging markets significantly increase their spending over the past decade, with Russia and Brazil as other two noteworthy examples.

There has been an up-trend in tourism over the last few decades, especially in Europe, where international travel for short breaks is common. The developments in technology and transport infrastructure, such as jumbo jets, low-cost airlines and more accessible airports have made many types of tourism more affordable. On April 28, 2009 The Guardian noted that “the WHO estimates that up to 500,000 people are on planes at any time.” There have also been changes in lifestyle, for example some retirement-age people sustain year round tourism. This is facilitated by internet sales of tourist services. Some sites have now started to offer dynamic packaging, in which an inclusive price is quoted for a tailor-made package requested by the customer upon impulse.

There have been a few setbacks in tourism, such as the September 11 attacks, the outbreak of the H1N1 influenza virus, and terrorist threats to tourist destinations, such as in Bali and several European cities. Also, on December 26, 2004, a tsunami, caused by the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, hit the Asian countries on the Indian Ocean, including the Maldives. Thousands of lives were lost including many tourists. This, together with the vast clean-up operations, stopped or severely hampered tourism in the area for a time.
